On February 24, reporters learned from the Kunming Entry-Exit Border Inspection Station that during the Spring Festival holiday (from 00:00 on February 15 to 00:00 on February 24), the station processed a total of 113,700 inbound and outbound passengers trips and 820 flights, representing year-on-year increases of 25% and 15%, respectively. This included 99,000 Chinese passengers and 14,700 foreign nationals. Furthermore, on February 22, the single-day cross-border trips reached 15,100, approaching the record high for single-day cross-border traffic, highlighting Yunnan’s growing appeal as a cross-border tourism destination.
In terms of passenger flow, outbound travel continued to gain momentum. During the holiday period, 47,800 Chinese nationals departed from Kunming Changshui Airport, a year-on-year increase of 17.8%. Southeast Asia, with its warm climate and scenic beauty, emerged as the most popular region for outbound travel, with Thailand, Malaysia, and Laos being the top outbound choices.

Inbound traffic was also robust. Thanks to the continuous optimization of China's visa-free policies, Kunming Changshui Airport recorded over 7,900 inbound foreign travelers during the Spring Festival holiday, a year-on-year increase of 31.4%. Among them, more than 4,500 passengers (56.68% of the total inbound foreign travelers) benefited from visa-free entry. Additionally, mainland Chinese travelers returning home for the holidays after working in countries like Vietnam, Thailand, and Laos also constituted a significant portion of the inbound passenger flow during the holiday.
Facing the sustained high passenger volume, the Kunming Entry-Exit Border Inspection Station conducted advance planning and carefully allocated resources, and continuously optimized clearance services. A series of facilitation measures were introduced, including pre-verification of information for transit passengers, integrated processing for inbound and transit passengers at the same counters, and simplified information declaration procedures for foreigners, significantly reducing passenger waiting times.
In response to the increased number of elderly passengers and children during the Spring Festival travel rush, the station set up designated lanes in a well-coordinated manner for Chinese citizens, foreign nationals, and the 240-hour visa-free transit passengers to ensure smooth and orderly passenger flow. Meanwhile, a "Special Lane" was opened, and mobile service teams composed of police officers proficient in English, Thai, Lao, and other languages were deployed. An e-arrival card assistance desk was also set up, providing considerate services to assist passengers through clearance.
