Dragon boat race held in Nanhu Lake of Mengzi City
In the blazing sun, there were loud sounds of gongs, drums, and cheering along the Nanhu Lake bank of Mengzi City. Members of 39 teams from all prefectures (cities) in Yunnan Province worked together to paddle the boat quickly, rippling through waves. The cheering of spectators on the bank was rising and failing. “This competition is fantastic,” said Zhang Yu excitedly. He hoped the Dragon boat race could take place every year, as a traditional custom of the Dragon Boat Festival with deep cultural meaning in China. (Editors: Ines, Lexi)
