From February 2 to March 13, 2026, the 40-day Spring Festival travel rush came to a successful close. Guided by passengers' travel needs, the Yunnan Aviation Industry Investment Group (YAIIG) rolled out targeted measures and coordinated interconnection across all airports under its administration. While consolidating the safety line of transportation and ensuring smooth operations, the Group continued upgrading its service initiatives to create a warm, convenient travel experience with distinctive Yunnan features for passengers during the Spring Festival travel rush.
During the period, airports across Yunnan Province handled a total of 71,900 flight takeoffs and landings, 10.3858 million passenger trips, and 56,600 tons of cargo and mail throughput, representing year-on-year increases of 7.18%, 10.21%, and 9.09%, respectively, compared with the 2025 Spring Festival travel rush. Among them, Kunming Changshui International Airport recorded 42,300 flight takeoffs and landings, 6.3635 million passenger trips, and 45,817.69 tons of cargo and mail throughput. The three indicators saw year-on-year growth of 2.19%, 4.28%, and 7.31%, respectively, with a string of historical records set in succession: the daily flight takeoffs and landings hit a record high of 1,103 on February 14, the daily cargo and mail throughput exceeded 1,733 tons for the first time on February 11, and the daily passenger throughput peaked at 177,600 on February 24, all reaching historical highs.
Four new international air routes were launched during the travel rush, namely Kunming to Sihanoukville, Phu Quoc, and Penang, and Lijiang to Seoul. In addition, five new domestic routes were added, including Kunming to Jiaxing and Jinggangshan, and Xishuangbanna to Xuzhou, Wuxi, Hohhot, and Xichang, further densifying and expanding the route network.
While ensuring the steady growth of transportation volume, YAIIG has been focusing on the travel experience and launched a series of heartwarming services to bring more warmth to passengers' journeys home. In particular, Kunming Changshui International Airport optimized and upgraded its "Easy Connect · Fly via Kunming" service brand, which further improved the convenience and efficiency of passenger transfers, enabling travelers to experience "Yunnan: A Unique Way of Life" right from their first stop.
