Recently, along Airport Avenue in the Dian Zhong New Area, an intelligent unmanned patrol vehicle was seen steadily cruising and operating. Equipped with 360-degree panoramic monitoring devices on its roof, it transmitted real-time road conditions to a large screen at the rear control center, marking the official commencement of field tests for Kunming Traffic Police's first intelligent unmanned patrol vehicle in the Dian Zhong New Area.
The unmanned patrol vehicle, deployed for this testing phase, primarily focuses on the traffic violation detection and enforcement. Integrating cutting-edge technologies such as 360-degree panoramic surveillance and AI intelligent recognition, the vehicle can accurately capture and transmit evidence of various traffic offenses, and efficiently identify road safety hazards. It also functions as an educational tool, continuously broadcasting traffic safety reminders, thereby achieving integrated "law enforcement + public education."
In terms of its operational mode, the vehicle employs a human-machine collaborative approach, mainly operating in an autonomous driving mode, supplemented by remote human monitoring. Under normal circumstances, it can independently plan patrol routes. When encountering complex road conditions or emergencies, the system will automatically trigger an alert, then a remote safety officer will take over control, establishing a management loop of "discovery reported, handling completed."
It is understood that the current test section covers the area from the Airport East Toll Station to the intersection of Kuoye Street and Airport Avenue in the Dian Zhong New Area. The full-scenario adaptation and debugging are expected to be completed within 3 to 5 days, after which the vehicle will be officially deployed for regular patrols. The practical application of unmanned patrol vehicles will effectively address the temporal and spatial limitations of traditional human patrols, significantly enhancing road control coverage and emergency response speed. This also represents a significant breakthrough in extending Kunming's unmanned driving technology from fields such as logistics delivery and travel services to public safety governance scenarios.
This initiative is one of the positive attempts by Dian Zhong Industrial Development Group Co., Ltd. to deepen the integration of intelligent connected technology with urban governance. Moving forward, the Group will continue to strengthen government-enterprise collaboration and further expand the application scenarios for intelligent unmanned equipment, transforming unmanned patrol vehicles into mobile sensing nodes for smart city construction. These efforts will support Kunming in building a modern transportation governance system that is "human-machine collaborative and air-ground integrated," and accelerate its development into a hub for innovative applications of intelligent connected vehicles in Southwest China.
