Real-time updates on traffic light status, driverless mini-buses, and autonomous logistics vehicles shuttling along the roads... smart cars, intelligent roads, and a smart city are transforming from blueprints into reality." On August 13th, at the Dian Zhong New Area Future Transportation Innovation Research Institute, participants of the Future Transportation International Summer Camp, including Master's and Ph.D. students, university teachers, and industry experts from Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, and Laos, shared insights on the new landscape of intelligent transportation and vehicle-city integration with staff from Road-Air Network Connectivity Technology Co., Ltd.
Staff from Road-Air Network Connectivity Co. selected one of the intelligent connected vehicles to explain its operating principles. When they learned that this 2-meter-long vehicle could transport 800 kilograms of cargo and operate 24 hours a day on the road without any human intervention to complete point-to-point cargo transportation, the campers expressed their astonished disbelief.
At the Kunming Intelligent Connected Vehicle Service Center, a live-updating "Dian Zhong New Area Vehicle-Road Digital Twin Platform" clearly displayed statistics on road traffic flow, real-time road video, and data on motor vehicles and pedestrians. Staff from Road-Air Network Connectivity Co. pointed to each section, explaining how the core of the smart platform operates, how it enhances traffic operational efficiency, and the application scenarios of autonomous driving vehicles in the Dian Zhong New Area. A camper from Thailand remarked, "Seeing the future transportation technology demonstrations at the institute today has given me new ideas for my hometown's transportation development. Bangkok's traffic congestion has always been a major issue. If such an intelligent management system could be introduced, it might make urban commuting much smoother."
Staff from Road-Air Network Connectivity Co. expressed their hope that the summer camp will encourage more South and Southeast Asian students to study "smart transportation" in China, and to jointly cultivate international talent through the institute. This will provide strong technical support and talent development for the development of Yunnan Province's intelligent connected vehicle industry, and also offer replicable technological solutions for transportation upgrades in Southeast Asian countries.
