In recent years, in accordance with the Overall Plan for Accelerating the Construction of a Strong Civil Aviation Province in Yunnan, the province has remained focused on its development goals, fully utilizing favorable policies, continuously increasing efforts in aviation market development, and further improving route network planning. It is accelerating the construction of an international aviation hub, achieving new results in building a strong civil aviation province.
Record Highs in Volume. In 2024, the passenger throughput of the 15 operational civil transport airports in the province reached 71.44 million passengers, setting a new record and ranking sixth nationwide. Lijiang, Xishuangbanna, Dali, and Dehong Mangshi airports surpassed the 8 million, 7 million, 3 million, and 2.5 million passengers throughput marks, respectively.
Network Intensification. In 2024, airports within the province operated a total of 640 air routes and connected to 186 destinations. Among them, Kunming Changshui International Airport offers passenger services to 26 destinations in South and Southeast Asia, ranking first in the country. Express routes with over 10 flights daily have increased to 15. The airport has achieved two-way "international through-flight" business coverage with 33 international and regional destinations and 80 domestic sites. The province has taken the lead in launching province-wide integrated through-flight services, contributing the "Yunnan Solution" to the coordinated development of smaller airports.
Project Acceleration. Currently, the expansion and renovation project of Kunming Changshui International Airport, the largest such project in the country, is being sped up. Upon completion, it will have a designed capacity of 95 million person-times, featuring "four runways + twin terminals" and seamless integration with high-speed rail and subway transport. The construction and relocation projects for Zhaotong and Honghe Mengzi airports, along with the expansion and renovation projects for five branch airports including Lijiang, Xishuangbanna, and Dali, are progressing rapidly. Preliminary work for airports in Yuanyang and Chuxiong is proceeding in an orderly manner.
Improved Services. In 2024, Kunming Changshui International Airport's flight punctuality rate was 91.97%, ranking first among the top ten airports nationwide. The passenger throughput for domestic through-flight services has cumulatively exceeded 1 million person-times, also ranking first nationally. The complaint rate per million passengers across the province has decreased by 40%. Several airport service products, including Kunming Airport's "aviation + cultural tourism" integration practices and explorations, Lijiang Airport's "Harmonious Airport, Accompanying Journey," Xishuangbanna Airport's "Worry-Free Migratory Birds" elderly service, and the "Yi Chang Zhuan" (Easy Transfer) service, have been recognized as outstanding typical cases nationwide.
