70th anniversary of Kunming University of Science and Technology and 50th anniversary of School of Transportation Engineering held in Kunming

On August 31st, a series of events celebrating the 70th anniversary of Kunming University of Science and Technology (KUST) and the 50th anniversary of the School of Transportation Engineering was held at the School of Transportation Engineering, Chenggong Campus of KUST in Kunming.

The event invited alumni from various years to return to the school for a campus tour and to participate in the Innovation Development Forum. During the forum, an alumnus from the class of '87 expressed his deep appreciation for the school's emphasis on and support for innovative education. He noted that the school's rapid development in recent years has significantly increased its influence within the industry, and he feels immense pride as an alumnus. He also expressed his willingness to contribute to the future development of the school. During the tour of the school's laboratories, many alumni shared their impressions, noting how the facilities have evolved from simple experimental equipment in the past to the modern laboratories they see today, equipped with advanced instruments and electronic screens. They felt deeply inspired by the rapid progress of the school and the transportation industry, which filled them with high expectations for the school's future.

A representative from the School of Transportation Engineering stated that over the past 50 years, the school's overall strength and competitiveness have greatly improved, with the quality of talent cultivation continuously rising. The school has trained over 15,000 graduates for the transportation and vehicle equipment manufacturing industries. Furthermore, the school has engaged in extensive collaborations with domestic and international research institutions, enterprises, and public organizations, achieving a lot of significant academic and research accomplishments in the integration of industry, academia, and research institutes. These contributions have played an active role in the development of the transportation industry in both Yunnan Province and the nation. Looking ahead, the school plans to accelerate the development of a high-quality faculty, an excellent talent cultivation system, and a high-level scientific research platform to enhance its comprehensive strength. Additionally, through the development of the Institute of Future Transportation Innovation, the institute aims to break disciplinary barriers and achieve interdisciplinary integration, cultivating a new generation of high-end talent in the transportation field, further supporting the development of the transportation industry in the Yunnan Dian Zhong New Area and across Yunnan Province.
