Photography enthusiasts captured a beautiful flower with pink and white colors in Longling County, Baoshan City, Yunnan Province. After careful examination by Tan Yunhong, a researcher at the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, it was identified as Diandingxiang (Luculia intermedia Hutch) from the Rubiaceae family.
Diandingxiang (Luculia intermedia Hutch), also known as Guidingxiang, Jiupinghua, and Luqiuhua in Chinese pinyin, is a shrub or small tree. Its resemblance to lilac gives it the name "Yunnan lilac," as it is most commonly found in Yunnan Province. The flower season begins in early March and lasts until the end of December.
