On August 25, the Emergency Management Office of Yunnan Dian Zhong New Area organized a training session on enhancing disaster prevention, mitigation, and relief capabilities. It aims to strengthen the sense of responsibility for all departments at all levels to ensure the effective implementation of tasks and to enhance the professional skills of personnel so as to carry out disaster prevention, mitigation, and relief work in Yunnan Dian Zhong New Area.

A total of more than 130 people from 35 member units of the Emergency Management Committee, including the General Management Department, the Party-Masses Work Department, the Economic Development Bureau of the Urban Management Bureau, as well as 21 communities, participated in the training session.

Yang Yi, the dean of the School of Public Safety and Emergency Management at Kunming University of Science and Technology, gave lectures on thoroughly studying the important statements of Xi Jinping, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, on disaster prevention, mitigation, and relief, analyzing typical case studies and enhancing the abilities to prevent and resolve natural disaster risks. Yang also mentioned the problems that occurred during the inspection and rectification of some units and explained how to step up organizational and leadership, ensure the implementation of responsibilities, and refine work measures from a practical perspective.

The goal of this training session was to continuously improve the comprehensive disaster prevention and mitigation capabilities of Yunnan Dian Zhong New Area and establish a multi-level emergency management system to combat major risks and hazards, thus laying a solid foundation for flood prevention work during the flood season.
