In Zhoucheng Village, Xizhou Township of Dali City, Yunnan’s Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, every household of Bai residents engages in tie-dyeing. The tie-dyed fabric flutters in the courtyard, complementing traditional Bai residential houses.
A piece of cloth can create thousand of patterns when intricately tied and dyed. That touch of indigo blue showcases the unique beauty of ethnic craftsmanship in the windy Dali. For Bai tie-dye artisans, tie-dyeing is not only a skill but also a way of life, becoming a valuable local cultural heritage throughout time.
