The Start of Winter, the first solar term of winter, begins at 18:45 on Nov. 7, 2022. It is the time for all living beings to relax and save energy for the coming year.

The Start of Winter is generally on November 7 or 8. When the sun reaches 225 degrees celestial longitude, it is the beginning of the Start of Winter. It is known as the "Four Starts" with the Start of Spring, Start of Summer and Start of Autumn.

From the day, plants wither, insects hibernate, and the sunshine time will continue to shorten. It is customary to mark this day as the beginning of winter.
