On Dec 10, the first "Lancang Mekong Express" freight train carrying Yunnan fresh flowers, vegetables, and other products departed from Kunming and headed to Vientiane, the capital of Laos, at the speed of 120km.

"Lancang Mekong Express" applies a one-stop service with designated location, time, and price, which has faster speed and customs clearance, offering online and offline services, compared with other freight trains on the China-Laos Railway. "Lancang Mekong Express" is especially suitable for fresh goods due to its efficient shipping time. 

In a bit to provide better service, the Railway Department coordinated with the Epidemic Prevention and Control and Transportation Organization to make customer-oriented logistics solutions tailored for enterprise owners to reduce the overall cost. Based on the 95306 digital port system, solutions include paperless customs clearance for international transport, improved port facilitation to ensure shipping efficiency.

It is reported that in the beginning, there will be two fixed lines per week to meet the demand of transporting fruits and vegetables, flowers, electronics, and life FMCGs. As the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) came into force, the China-Laos Railway saw steady growth in freight volume, with goods shipping to more than 10 countries and regions, including Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Malaysia, Cambodia, Singapore, Bangladesh, and so forth. The China-Laos Railway will make a positive contribution to reconstructing the logistics chain of China's Lancang and Mekong subregions and ensuring the stability of international supply and trade chains.
